Medium Carbon Steel Blade

The 1060 is an excellent steel for katana’s and is our standard dojo cutter... When
properly tempered, this steel can be extremely durable and very suitable for cutting tatami omote on a regular basis. The 0.6% carbon is perfect when through
hardened. Without the risk of becoming too brittle and susceptible to chipping and shatter, nor will it remain too soft to where it would bend easily on bad cuts.

This blade has the best price/value ratio for anyone looking for a blade affordable
enough that you are not going to be afraid to use, but still be able to handle regular beatings within a dojo setting.

Tsuba variations
On the range of medium carbon steel swords the Tsuba is made with Iron and the quality of the materials on the more expensive models changes to incorporate semi precious metals such as Copper and Brass for a more original Japanese style Tsuba.

Saya colour variations

The saya are produced with Hardened wood with an enamel finished and come with the Authentic Sageo (hanging cord)

Damascus Steel (Folded) Blade

Full Hand-folded steel Curved blade with Bohi (groove) and Chu-Kissaki tip. Differentially hardened by traditional clay-wrapping technique. The hardness of its Mune is ca 45HRCand the Ha (blade edge) is ca 48HRC Rockwell. The blade spine is iori-Mune, the edge is without Niku, ideal for Tameshigiri. (cutting sharp blade).

The blade of the sword has been hand forged using the ancient method of sword making. Two pieces outer jacket steel wrapped around a relatively softer, inner core steel, which is resilient and able to absorb shocks, in a way, reduces the possibility of the blade breaking or bending. This creates a blade with hard, sharp cutting edge. The visible tenuous undulating grain on the blade was resulted from folded repeatedly during forging.

The blade shaped Shinogi-zukuri without blood groove, featured Chu points and Ihori blade backs, which has irregular wavy Boshi, and Gunome hamon resulted from quenching and tempering. Futsu shape of full tang has Haagari tang tips. Also, a swimming dragon pattern and characters are carved on both sides of the blade.

Hand made Katana (1095 carbon steel)

Also known as 1095 High carbon steel or Monosteel. For those who demand an adherence to Japanese tradition and a blade forged from a metal so pure that it doesn't require the folding process used to perfect lower quality metals, here is the 1095 Japanese sword class. Hand forged and polished to a mirror finish using, the carbon steel blade found on this Japanese sword in the 1095 line is
very sharp and its beauty is unparalleled. In order for the Japanese swords to maintain its sharpness, its edge must be hard
while the 'body' of the sword must also be flexible in order to absorb heavy blows and shocks without breaking. The way to create a metal that is both hard and flexible at the same time was figured out centuries ago and is still in use today. It's called differential hardening or Heat-tempering.  This complicated process consist of a thick layer of clay mixture that is applied to the spine side of the blade and the layer is thinned the closer it gets to the edge of the
sword. By heating the blade to the appropriate temperature, the smith will remove the blade from the heat source and immediately immersed in a trough of water. This process changes the composition of the metal and makes the edge of the blade more
hard than the body. This Japanese sword has a HRC of 40 on the back and around 58-60 on the edge. Every stroke of the polishing stone brings out the exquisite grain and beauty of this formidable metal. The careful work of master craftsmen’s hands accents each line in the blade and enhances the Real Harmon. This finely balanced weapon is available with Hi for the practice of Iaido, or without Hi for Tameshigiri.
